What are the series of Activesol panels and what are their characteristics ? |
ACTIVESOL panels come in two main product lines:
|
Can you walk on Activesol panels ? |
You can walk on the GREEN XTREME and NAVY-BLUE XTREME panels as long as they are mounted on a rigid surface and are fully supported across their entire surface. It is recommended to walk in soft shoes or barefoot. |
Are Activesol panels flexible ? |
Yes, the specified minimum bending radius for the GREEN STANDARD panels is 5 metres, while for the other panels, it is 1 metre. This means the panel can be bent around a circle with a radius no smaller than the declared bending radius. |
Can cable outlets be mounted on the underside ? |
Yes, it is possible to design electrical outlets on the underside. They can usually be designed anywhere within the photovoltaic module. |
How much power does this panel have ? |
The power of the panels is specified in the datasheet or on their nameplates, which are located on the back of the photovoltaic panel. Generally, the larger the panel, the higher its nominal power. |
What does the term “nominal power” mean ? |
There is a global standard for measuring photovoltaic panels called STC. All panels are measured under STC conditions, and this is how their nominal power is determined (which allows us to compare them with each other). The actual (instantaneous) power output of panels depends on many factors, the main ones being sunlight and the angle of sunrays. However, under the same conditions, a panel with a higher nominal power can produce more power than a panel with a lower nominal power. |
How much power can Activesol panels generate per square metre ? |
Usually, this is around 180–220 Wp/m².
|
What is the lead time ? |
The typical production time for “Custom-Made” panels is 2 weeks. Standard panels are often available immediately. |
What does it mean if a panel has, for example, 100Wp? What can it power ? |
Depending on the location and position relative to the sun, such a panel can generate different amounts of energy. For instance, a 100Wp panel installed in the Canary Islands during the summer can produce an average of 450 Wh of energy daily. This could power devices like a TV for 6 hours, a laptop for 7 hours, or a fridge for 5 hours. |
What elements is the system composed of ? |
A system consists of 1 or more photovoltaic panels, 1 or more charge controllers, and a battery. The system can be expanded with additional accessories, such as devices for measuring battery charge levels, remote control interfaces, and other components (usually available from the charge controller manufacturer). |
Who is responsible for the installation? And how to install it ? |
Activesol is a manufacturer of photovoltaic panels and does not provide installation services. Activesol panels can be installed by any electrician with the appropriate qualifications for a given country, who is knowledgeable about off-grid photovoltaic systems and familiar with the Activesol installation manual. For installations on watercraft, it is recommended to have experience working with such vessels. If needed, we have extensive contacts with Partners in many countries who offer these services. |
Where are the panels manufactured ? |
Activesol panels are manufactured exclusively in Poland. |
What are the advantages of Activesol panels compared to the competition ? |
- “Custom-Made” panel offerings
- A company focused on niche, high-quality products offering exceptional durability - European product warranty - Fast lead times for custom-made production - European manufacturing from a stable supplier with a 20-year history - No minimum order quantity (MOQ) - A special anti-slip layer developed by Activesol - Components from top suppliers, such as Maxeon, 3M, DuPont, and other mostly EU-based suppliers - In-house R&D Department - Real and efficient after-sales support |
Can the panels come in different colours ? |
Panels can have white, black, or transparent backgrounds. However, it is also possible to produce panels without visible cells in various colours. This option has a longer lead time due to the need to source materials in the desired colour. This solution also reduces the efficiency of the photovoltaic panel (for more details, contact an Activesol KAM). |
Can the panels support 12, 24, 48 V batteries ? |
A photovoltaic system using Activesol panels must have a voltage 5V higher than the charging voltage of the battery. Systems over 400Wp can support 48V systems. It is also possible to use special charge controllers or other solar cell technologies to increase the voltage for smaller systems. More details can be obtained from an Activesol KAM. |
What happens in the event of partial or full shading ? |
Shading negatively impacts the performance of photovoltaic panels by reducing their efficiency. Activesol panels are equipped with blocking diodes to improve performance under partial shading. In addition, the Maxeon cell technology used in the GREEN XTREME and NAVY-BLUE series limits power loss due to shading. For instance, shading a traditional monocrystalline cell results in a power loss of about 110W. Shading a Maxeon cell causes only a 15W loss. |
What is the efficiency of Activesol panels ? |
Efficiency depends on the type of solar cell used, and it ranges from 15% to 22%. With Maxeon cells, the efficiency typically falls between 18% and 22%. |
Do Activesol panels heat up significantly ? |
The operating temperature range for Activesol panels is -40 to +85°C. However, they usually reach around 45–55°C in strong sunlight. If temperature is so high, it is recommended to walk on the panels only in soft shoes to avoid any burns. |
How should Activesol panels be cleaned ? |
Activesol panels can be cleaned with a soft cloth dampened with water. A small amount of isopropyl alcohol can also be added. |
How much does it cost ? |
Pricing depends on the scale of the order and some technical factors. Quotes can be obtained by contacting an Activesol KAM. |
What are the mounting options ? |
Activesol panels can be mounted using a double-sided tape, glue, and screws. Other methods such as Velcro or magnets are also possible. |
What is the warranty for Activesol panels ? |
The GREEN series has a 2-year product warranty.
